SEO Tip: Promoting a product or service that one is an authority on makes it fairly easy to create web resources. Through our web site, we can teach others about our theme.
-------
Search engines can measure the usefulness of a webpage, by tracking the % of users who return to sites using the same keyword search at later dates. SERP outgoing clicks should be a factor in SE algorithm penalty.
-------
I am playing the SEO game cautiously. I minimize outgoing links to sites that have a bad (PR 0) Home Page.
-------
The nofollow tag looks like: 1) <head> <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"> </head> and 2) <a href="http://__/" rel="nofollow">__</a>.

To check for nofollow: At web page, View > Source > Edit > Find, then type nofollow. When there are no nofollows on the page, that's all that needs to be done. When finding a nofollow: 1) Were the head tags already searched? 2) Finding your url will show if it has the tag.

Do-It-Yourself Search Engine Optimization
(Webmaster Guide)

Content Below at a Glance: 4 DIY Steps | Best SEO Software | Tip on SEO Work Effectiveness | Google Algorithm Boost Estimations | Slow Loading Sites Do It Yourself SEO Images
----------------
"If you want a thing done well, do it yourself." - Napoleon Bonaparte

4 DIY Steps:

#1. Webmasters can start at Step #4 below when their site is already listed at Google, Yahoo and bing (msn). (Today's Top Search Engines) Listing at the 4th most popular engine (ask.com) does not need to be monitored.

Searching for the part of a home page address that is after the "http://" and before the "/" at the end, will give efficient results. For Google, Site Status works.
----------------
#2. If not listed at one of the three big engines, a site may have one or more algorithm penalties.

A good focus is doing the work that could make a site more engine friendly.

Fixing probable engine algorithm penalties can help. After doing this, I would go to Google Webmaster Tools. While logged in, a "Reconsideration Request" could improve a site's algorithm score.

While doing a Google Reconsider, written in the page is this: For sites that directly profit from traffic, evidence of good-faith is important.

Google is likely looking for proof of ethicalness from webmasters who have sites that generate income.

Google Webmaster Central and Yahoo! Search Indexing are helpful. Working on SEO Priorities can also help.
----------------
#3. Educated Tips (based on eight years experience in organic SEO) on reasons a site is NOT listed at one of the top three SEs, in order of importance:

A. Lack of quality backlinks pointing to both your home and inside pages. Solution: Thy SEO Checklist #4!

B. No Updates. Solution: Updating the home page every 3 to 7 days, going for big changes in content when possible. ThySEO Checklist #5 is helpful.

C. Acquiring Backlinks Unnaturally. When a url name is not found at the top of Google, when being searched for after the http://, there is a good probability that its being penalized. Solution: Removing crosslinks, and excessive irrelevent backlink titles. Unnatural backlinks need to be fixed. An answer by JohnMu - Google Employee supports this.

D. No or Poor Title & Description Meta Tags. Solution: These go between the <head> </head> tags. They must reflect your page content.

E. Lack of Good Content, Especially on Pages Accessed from Home Page. Thy Checklist #1 helps. Bad content is similar content to another webpage. Good content is two or more paragraphs stating relevant, new, and useful ideas.

F. Bad Outbound Links. Specialist Solution: Doing a manual check for broken outbound links works. After a few days and a second check, I would remove them.
----------------
#4. Once listed at Google, Yahoo and bing, SEO priority should be to acquire high quality backlinks and content updating.

The links pointing to your web page must have the exact keyword phrases that are relevant to content.

Beginning SEOs should select 5 to 25 keyword phrases for variety and lateral support.

A web page must contain its popular, relevant keywords. Amounts over 70 of the same keyword or over 5 of the same keyword phrase on a page should be avoided.

Going after keywords that do not reflect your webpages' content is time wasted. What will happen is your site will attract customers who are looking for something other than what you offer. These customers show up as low "Page Views" in your analytics. Irrelevant keyword stuffing is a likely engine penalty.

ThySEO Checklist should help to master key wording.

One motivation behind updating a site is that SE crawlers use a site's change of content (updates) in criteria for their algorithms. Proof of this was found at Yahoo in the Options > Advanced Search menu. Yahoo no longer gives users this advanced search option, but it is a likely an ongoing factor in engine algorithms.

Updating once every 3 to 7 days will work for the top engines, for this is what I have come up with while testing organic SEO.

According to Matt Cutts at Google, engines track the amount of changed content, when crawling a site. Therefore, big, frequent updates should be top-priority work.

On reasons for your webpage's high rank: You can record your SEO work in a log (notepad), then review it, using Google Analytics, to guess what caused a jump in organic hits. Thy SEO Reasoning Ratios Why a Website Ranks High for Keywords shows probable reasons.

In Windows Internet Explorer, the Favorites Bar, found under View > Toolbars, is a time saver because it lets you go to a link in one click. This bar should span across the top of the browser from left to right and should have all your most frequent links. Each having a small icon with a small description that you have renamed after giving them a right click.

Tip on SEO Work Effectiveness:

Organic SEO is a superior way to increase a website's profits. A webmaster's focus should be on the reasons a web site ranks high for keywords: Why a Website Ranks High for Keywords lists all these reasons!

To be effective at high rankings: I commit the first five hours of my day to work on four hours of top-priority stuff. For example: I start the first hour updating sites that are past due, then take a 5 or 10 minute break. Then I acquire new backlinks, then break. I update and remove outbound links not-working, then break. I do anything I can find to do at Why a Website Ranks High for Keywords. In place of breaks, I simply spend some time on low-to-medium-priority SEO, to fill in the 5th hour.

After four hours of important SEO, a webmaster should focus on easier stuff, for the remainder of the day. This will help expand your mind into other areas of SEO effectiveness.

Google Algorithm Boost Estimations:

At Google, a web site's change in organic rankings, as a result of ethical SEO, should occur after waiting between one minute to one year.

Boosting a site's rank in one minute:

Scenario 1: A respectable news web site offers a new story containing a new demand of keyword phrases at Google.

The result could be that their new web page is at the top of these searches within a minute of going online.
----------------
Boosting a site's rank in ten days:

Scenario 2: A three-plus year old site with over 1000 semi-unique backlinks is updated more frequently. It used to update every ten days. Now it updates every three days. All of its other SEO work has been steady.

The result should be that there will be a noticable boost in rankings within ten days.
----------------
Boosting a site's rank in three weeks:

Scenario 3: A three-plus year old site with over 1000 semi-unique backlinks has excessive unnatural backlinks in its cross-linking neighborhood deleted. All of its other SEO work is steady.

The result should be that there will be a boost in rankings within three weeks.
----------------
Boosting a site's rank in two months:

Scenario 4: A two-plus year old site with over 500 semi-unique backlinks acquires more backlinks. It used to acquire one-to-two medium quality incoming links a week. Now it acquires three-to-fifteen medium-to-high quality per week. All of its other SEO work is steady.

The result should be that within two months its organic hits will increase month-to-month.
----------------
Boosting a site's rank in one year:

Scenario 5: A one year old site with between 50 and 300 semi-unique backlinks acquires more backlinks. It used to acquire one-to-two medium quality incoming links a week. Now it acquires three-to-fifteen medium-to-high quality per week. All of its other SEO work is steady.

The result should be that organic hits will increase month-to-month within one year.
----------------
Tip: Although 15 backlinks per week is a recommendation, it is ok to get as many links as you can. Matt Cutts: Is there such thing as building too many links?
-------------------------------------------
Images about Slow Loading Slow Loading Sites:

I do not like to visit slow sites because time is valuable!

The speed of a site is 100% the webmaster's responsibility.

To make a website fast, Google recommends using Mozilla Firefox Web Browser & Firebug Add On.

The second thing that causes a fast loading page is minimizing the use of images.

The third thing is minimal write-up byte size. So, I would take out all the write-up clutter and blank spaces in your html. Also, the use of tables should be minimized.
